Anti-Oppression

The Local Environmental Action team is committed to anti-oppression because we want everyone to be able to participate in this movement. We want the conference to be a space where people of color, low-income people, Black, Brown & Indigenous folks, women, transgender and genderqueer people, gay, lesbian and queer folks, folks with disabilities and otherwise marginalized are able name impact and receive apologies. Please join us in working to create that space and please contact Claire Muller at claire@communityactionworks.org or cell phone 781-775-1429 with any questions or to ask for support.

Accessibility

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To be respectful of those with allergies and environmental sensitivities, we ask that you please refrain from wearing strong fragrances; however, Northeastern University is not a scent-free campus. All of the spaces we will be using at Northeastern University are ADA compliance and service-animal friendly. There are several accessible parking spots located near the entrance to the building we will be using, and an accessible parking garage (Gainsborough) nearby. Personal care assistants do not need to register for the conference. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, including interpretation or mobility assistance, please contact Shaina Kasper at shaina@communityactionworks.org or cell phone: 802-922-4780.

Interpretation

We are happy to offer Spanish-English interpretation so that everybody can fully participate in the conference. If you have any questions or concerns about this service, please contact Lena Entin at (413) 210-4127. Additionally, if you know of any participants who require interpretation into different languages, we will work to find the services they need.

Accessibility Self-Advocacy

Please share any and all accessibility needs you have to ensure your full participation at the conference. This can include (but is not limited to): physical accessibility, including anything we should know around food, noise, scent, and gender; intellectual accessibility, including instruction or tips to help you fully participate; emotional support including content warnings; and spiritual groundings including an understanding of our space or religious practice. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact Shaina Kasper at shaina@communityactionworks.org or cell phone: 802-922-4780.

Driving Directions
The address for parking is 835 Columbus Avenue in Boston, which is the Renaissance Parking Garage. There is a $20 fee to park. Free street parking is often available on Columbus Avenue, Tremont Street, and the cross-streets between them. Be sure to read the street signage. Carpooling is encouraged!

From the parking garage:
When you exit the parking garage onto Columbus Avenue, you’ll see flags and a tall building to your right.  Turn right and then go up the stone stairs to your right. A sign above the stairs says Ruggles. Walk through the arched walkway, all the way down to the end.  You’ll pass a Dunkin’ Donuts on your left. At the end of the walkway, you’ll come to a set of stairs. Above the stairs are signs that say Northeastern/Forsyth St/Buses. When you come out the door, you’ll see a round, grassy knoll to your left.  Walk straight ahead on the sidewalk. Pass the Egan Research Center on your right and take a right at the shiny black Veteran’s Memorial. Follow the paved sidewalk all the wall to the Snell Library ahead, and then bear left on the path to hook around the corner of the library.  The Curry Student Center will be right in front of you. Head through the round patio and enter the Curry Center through the maroon awning.

Public Transportation Directions
Northeastern University is conveniently located on Huntington Avenue, two blocks from the corner of Massachusetts Avenue. The campus is accessible by MBTA from the Green Line (Northeastern stop on the "E" train) and from the Orange Line (Ruggles stop). Commuter rail lines connect with the Orange Line at Back Bay Station and North Station.

From Ruggles Station (Orange Line, Commuter Rail):
From the train platform below ground, exit up the stairs or escalator.  Go through Exit gates above and bear left, following signs for Northeastern/Forsyth St.  You’ll go down a set of stairs to exit onto the street.

From Northeastern Station (Green Line):
When you get off the train, take a right onto the platform and walk to the end.  If you’re headed towards Qdoba, turn around and walk in the opposite direction. At the end of the platform, cross Huntington Ave to your right.  If you cross to the Frank Palmer Hall, turn around and cross the street in the opposite direction. When you cross Huntington, you’ll see an NU entrance.  Walk onto campus on the brick pathway. You’ll see a clock that says Northeastern University/Krentzman Quad. Follow the brick path, keeping Richards Hall on your right.  You’ll come to a short set of stairs. Walk down and keep following the brick path. Curry Student Center is now on your left. Enter through the maroon awning that says Curry Student center.

We Can't wait to see you there!
